We hit the road to see the future of cars, and we’ve got photos
Some of the brightest minds, and best ideas, come from the world of automotive design. We traveled to three mega-shows recently to seek out the coolest concept cars, and hear experts pontificate about how we’ll be moving in the decades to come.
Last week we dispatched social media editor Pam Gantt to frigid Detroit to attend the North American International Auto Show (aka the Detroit Auto Show). We landed in between the Press Preview and the Public Show, smack in the middle of the Industry Preview. That means lots of people climbing beneath cars and poking around under the hood.
We’ll spare you the arcane details, but alternative-fuel and autonomous vehicles ruled the day. The sheer number of chunks of eye candy on display was head-spinning. We’ve boiled down the best of the best to 10 photos for our Instagram slideshow. Enjoy!
This was the second year NAIAS featured AutoMobili-D, a tech-heavy exposition about the way we’ll move. Inside there were over 150 exhibitors ranging from automakers, to suppliers to tech startups, as well as universities and government organizations. Here are the highlights:

But over the last few years, automotive technology has been taking up an increasing share of the spotlight, and this year the trend kept surging.
