New Tool Advances Genetic Engineering of Fuel Crops

A powerful new tool that can help advance the genetic engineering of “fuel” crops for clean, green and renewable bioenergy, has been developed by researchers with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI), a multi-institutional partnership led by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab).

Nearly 4% of the world’s oil supply is offline due to conflict

The world’s oil prices have stayed high since 2010 — bouncing around $100 per barrel— for two basic reasons. Oil demand keeps rising, and production is struggling to keep up. But why is production struggling to keep up? One big factor has been geopolitical conflict. Wars, unrest, and sabotage have increasingly plagued oil producers like Iraq, Libya, and Syria since 2011. The US and EU sanctions on Iran’s oil industry have also removed a lot of oil from global markets.

Worldwide gasoline demand going to drop after 2021

Even as electric vehicles gain in popularity, we’re told again and again that internal combustion engines aren’t going away. While that may be true, it would still be nice to kick our addiction to gasoline. Pollution, international turmoil and energy insecurity are getting a bit tiresome. Car Dealers Not Plugged into the EV Revolution

How do we get information when we want to buy a new car? Often, it’s online with car review websites and automaker’s sites & advertising, and hopefully UCS’s clean vehicle information. Alternative vehicle fuels explained

With rising gas prices, consumers are demanding more fuel efficiency from their vehicles. Over the past few years, car companies have introduced a number of different types of vehicles to meet the growing needs of consumers, but it can be overwhelming trying to understand the different features of these vehicles. This week, Niagara Sustainability Initiative will help you to understand the differences between a number of different vehicle types, to give you the tools to pick the vehicle that best meets your needs.

CNG & LPG Vehicle Market by Vehicle Type (Passenger Cars & Light Commercial Vehicles), Fuel Type (CNG & LPG), and Geography (Asia-Pacific, Europe, Americas & ROW) – Industry Trends & Forecasts to 2019

Report: The market for CNG & LPG vehicles is gaining traction in many countries due to the combined effects of low-cost CNG and LPG and sustained higher prices for gasoline and diesel. The dual fuel options available in these vehicles make them an attractive option in terms of reduction in running costs and removing range anxiety. The low cost of conversion and prospect of significant emission reduction will increase the penetration of alternate fuels, worldwide.

U.S. inching closer to energy independence as oil imports shrink
